Joe Biden has had no issue appearing in headlines due to his appalling statements.  Today, the presidential hopeful announced, “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black”.  Biden’s ignorant comments were shared over Charlamagne Tha God’s nationally syndicated online show.  After his inexcusable remarks caught media attention, Biden attempted to back track his words.

Biden’s attempted apology went like this, “I should not have been so cavalier”.  “I’ve never, never, ever taken the African American community for granted”.  Biden claims his words on Charlemagne’s show were mere quips made “in jest”.  The short sighted words both pry on ridiculous identity politics and reflect Biden’s grave misunderstandings of the American people.

If listeners didn’t go after Biden, he would have never retracted his ignorant remarks.  The former Vice President continued to ask us to review his track record.  Doing so, it’s not hard to find Biden’s erroneous actions as a legislator.  As a senator- Joe Biden was responsible for helping pass the 1994 Violent Crime and Law Enforcement Act.  The Act is now directly associated with America’s mass incarceration crisis.  Between 1994 and 2009, incarceration rates doubled in the United States.  This change in the criminal justice system has disproportionately affected people of color.  With the presidency at stake, Biden has tried to step away from his actions as Senator.  This however does not revoke any injustices already inflicted towards the American people.

In effort to bring real criminal justice to the national level, President Trump authorized the First Step Act in 2018.  This act has worked to shrink incarceration rates Joe Biden helped procure.  Biden has had no issue showcasing why he is unfit for office.  His alarming comments explain why he cannot hold interviews let alone the presidency.
